- Creating, saving, opening and closing a file, spell-checking and navigating through documents
- The InDesign approach to page–layout
- Exploring the interface, and overview of tools & palettes, zooming and printing Using Text frames
- Importing text files and working with tabs
- Using character and paragraph formatting
- Indenting text, running text around images, creating threads, and using find and replace
- Creating, setting, applying and importing character, paragraph,parent and child styles
- Overview of graphic formats, frames, and links palette
- Importing, resizing, cropping graphics, and using in-line graphics
- Creating formatting and importing tables (including word and Excel tables).
- Imported tab delimited text files, and filling alternating rows or columns
- Setting margins and using a layout grid to create custom guides and multi-column layouts
- Using frame-based & Page- based columns
