  • Use of appropriate data type
  • Use of keys and indexes
  • Inserting and updating records - including data import techniques (INSERT, UPDATE, LOAD)
  • Handle updates to duplicate records
  • Retrieve data from a MySQL database using SQL queries (SELECT statements)
  • Query optimisation techniques
  • Data filtering (WHERE clause)
  • Group results (GROUP BY, HAVING, etc)
  • Using Aggregate functions
  • Work with multiple tables (JOINS)
  • Use nested sub-queries
  • Advanced query techniques
  • Concurency and Transactions
